Civilization 7 (Civ 7) has decided to postpone its first in-game event to focus on essential quality-of-life improvements. Firaxis Games provided an update on February 28, 2025, detailing their Development Roadmap and outlining the future of Civ 7.

Update 1.1.0, set to launch on March 4, 2025, for PC and consoles (with a separate release for Nintendo Switch), was initially slated to include the first in-game event, the "Natural Wonder Battle." However, Firaxis announced, "Although our first in-game event, Natural Wonder Battle, was planned for Update 1.1.0 on March 4, we have decided to delay it to a future update to focus on quality-of-life enhancements for our global player base. We will share more details about the event as soon as we're ready."

Since its early access launch, the game has received mixed reviews, with many players expressing concerns about the user interface (UI). Firaxis has acknowledged this feedback, stating, "We are aware of and addressing the feedback on the game's UI. We continue to refine Civilization 7 and value the time players take to share their thoughts."

The upcoming Update 1.1.0 for Civ 7 aims to respond to community suggestions and feedback. While the complete update notes will be released at launch, Firaxis has given a sneak peek of what to expect.

Players will be able to explore the new natural wonder, the Bermuda Triangle, at no additional cost. The much-anticipated UI adjustments will address player concerns, significantly improving the game's interface. Additionally, there will be notable updates to the Modern Age's Cultural Legacy Path and Victory conditions, with AI leaders now more adept at achieving a Cultural Victory.

Alongside these updates, the first part of the paid "Crossroads of the World Collection" will be available. According to Firaxis, "Players who own the relevant editions, or have purchased the Crossroads of the World Collection separately, will receive this content automatically with Update 1.1.0."

Next Major Update Slated for March 25, 2025

The next major update for Civ 7 is scheduled for March 25, 2025, although this date is tentative. This update will continue to focus on enhancing the game's UI, with Firaxis emphasizing, "Ongoing improvements to the User Interface remain a top priority. The updates on March 25 are just one part of our broader plan to refine the UI over the coming months."

Looking beyond March, Civ 7 aims to introduce a range of improvements and new features, including a "one more turn" option to extend play beyond the Modern Age, auto-explore functionality, new map sizes for PC and consoles (excluding Switch), and enhancements to multiplayer support.

Firaxis stated, "We are currently planning the work needed to bring these enhancements to the game as quickly as possible. Some features will be available as early as April (subject to change), while others may take longer to develop, test, and deploy. As always, development plans may evolve, and we will keep you updated as our plans solidify. Thank you for your continued patience and support!"
