"Beginner's Guide to Mastering Rune Slayer"

Author: Matthew May 27,2025

After two failed launches and months of waiting, Rune Slayer is finally here, and it's truly glorious. Whether you're new to MMORPGs or a seasoned player, diving into Rune Slayer can be a thrilling yet overwhelming experience. Fear not, as we've crafted a comprehensive guide to help you embark on your epic journey in Rune Slayer.

These tips are what we wish we knew when we started, and they can make your initial steps in the game much smoother.

Do Not Randomly Attack Other Players

When Rune Slayer announced full-loot PvP, we braced for chaos. However, our fears were largely unfounded. When you die in Rune Slayer, you don’t lose anything, not even to other players. You simply respawn and continue playing.

But there's a catch: attacking other players puts a bounty on your head. The more players you kill, the higher your bounty grows, and consequently, the more items you'll drop if you're defeated. So, to avoid turning the game into a full-loot PvP scenario, refrain from attacking other players unless you have a solid reason or a group of friends to back you up.

Craft Bags ASAP

You'll quickly realize that both your bank space and inventory are limited. With only 50 item slots, your inventory can fill up fast. To expand your storage, craft bags as soon as possible. You can equip up to two bags, starting with the Cotton Bag.

Gather Cotton from north of Wayshire and Flax from the south (watch out for mobs in the south). Each Cotton Bag adds an extra 10 slots to your inventory, so don't delay in crafting them.

Your Pets Don’t Actually Die

A common misunderstanding is that pets die permanently when their health reaches zero. In reality, your pet can’t be summoned for 5 minutes after "dying." You can check this cooldown by holding T. Once the time is up, hold T again to summon your pet back.

Bonus Tip: To quickly heal your pet, store and unstore it at the stable master. You get one free slot, so make use of it.

Grab All the Quests (Yes, All of Them)

Rune Slayer is packed with quests, many of which are not repeatable and can be easily forgotten. Most quests follow the familiar "Kill 10 X" format seen in many MMORPGs.

To manage this, accept every quest you encounter. Grab everything from the Job board too. Completing multiple quests simultaneously is far more efficient than tackling them one by one. You might even find yourself completing multiple quests at the same time without realizing it.

Craft Everything at Least Once (Even Things You Don’t Need)

While you should prioritize crafting what you need, use any spare materials to craft items you might not immediately need. Crafting new items for the first time often unlocks more advanced crafting recipes. For instance, smelting your first Iron Ore unlocked a range of new Iron Armor crafts for us. So, don't hoard your materials; craft away to unlock new possibilities.

Join a Guild

Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, but as you progress, you'll encounter tougher enemies designed for group battles. The simplest way to find a group is by joining a guild.

Use the in-game general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord server to find a guild. Having allies will make tackling those big baddies much easier.

And that’s all there is to it. Enjoy your journey in Rune Slayer, and if you haven’t already, check out the Rune Slayer Trello and Discord for more tips and community support.
