Assassin's Creed Shadows: Free Updates and DLC Plans Revealed

Ubisoft has shared an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a rich array of updates and additions that will enhance the gaming experience for fans. The detailed plans for 2025 were revealed in a concise four-and-a-half-minute video, highlighting a clear schedule for May and June, and outlining the free updates that will keep players engaged throughout the year.

The rollout of content begins in early May with The Works of Luis Frois, the first of several free story add-ons. This update will also include a Codex update and various quality-of-life enhancements. Ubisoft is set to introduce significant parkour additions and a photo mode update in June, reflecting their commitment to responding to community feedback.

"Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released," said community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. "Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms."

In June, players can look forward to another free story drop, along with new difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. Ubisoft has promised even more features before the year ends, including new game+ support, additional story content, and special collaborations.

The most anticipated addition on the roadmap is the Claws of Awaji DLC expansion, slated for release later in the year. This expansion will offer a 10-hour journey, featuring new content such as the Bo staff weapon and a new region for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke to explore. While pricing details remain undisclosed, the expansion will be free for players who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
