Accessing Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria: A Guide

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been marked on the town map. However, the location was inaccessible until the game’s March 2025 update. Here’s how to access the Deep Woods and where to find Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*.

How To Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

The Deep Woods area becomes accessible once you break the Fire Seal and utilize the new Dragon’s Breath spell to clear the vines blocking the entrance in *Fields of Mistria*. To achieve this, you must first place four specific items on the Priestess’ Fire Seal altar located on Floor 60 of the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. You can find the first three items between floors 50 and 59, but acquiring the Sealing Scroll requires teamwork with Juniper and Balor.

To help Balor obtain the Sealing Scroll, you need to deposit the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

Once you've fulfilled these requirements, speak with Balor again, and he will inform you that the item will be ready the next day. After that, you can proceed with the offering.

Breaking magical seals usually concludes with a farewell from the mysterious mines Priestess, unlocking a new biome within the mines. However, this time, things take an unexpected turn. The Priestess urges you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. With your health depleted, Caldarus appears in his human form when you call for help, and he retreats to his temple in the Deep Woods to regain his strength.

The dragon then requests that you find him at his temple, gifting you the Dragon’s Breath spell. This powerful offensive spell can burn through the vines obstructing the entrance to the Deep Woods in *Fields of Mistria*. It can also uncover other previously inaccessible areas on the map. To use it, equip Dragon’s Breath from the pause menu and activate it while standing in front of the area’s entrance. This action will permanently unlock the Deep Woods and other areas.

How To Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, you can locate Caldarus inside his temple in the Deep Woods. This temple is situated to the north of the Eastern Road on your map, and accessing it requires the Dragon’s Breath spell. Caldarus’ exact location is marked on your map, similar to other NPCs. You'll find him in the northeast corner of the area.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods and head right, using your axe to chop down the stump blocking your path. Continue north until you arrive at the temple, where Caldarus awaits inside.

Once the Deep Woods area is unlocked in *Fields of Mistria*, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to the Deep Woods for just 10 Essence. This convenient method saves time compared to traveling on foot or horseback.

Additionally, you can still interact with Caldarus through his statue, albeit in spirit.
