Avex Pictures has just unveiled an exciting new addition to the Made in Abyss universe with the announcement of a mobile game titled "Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey." This marks the first time the captivating story of Made in Abyss, previously explored through manga, anime, and a 3D action RPG, will be adapted into a mobile gaming format.

The announcement came with the launch of the game's official X account, which will serve as the primary channel for updates as we approach the release date. Currently, details on the gameplay are scarce, but it has been confirmed that "Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey" will be a casual mobile game. It is set to launch on Android and iOS platforms, although initially, it will only be available in Japan. There has been no mention yet of plans for a global release.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Made in Abyss originated as a manga in 2012, created by Akihito Tsukushi and serialized on Web Comic Gamma. The story centers on Riko, a young orphan from the town of Orth, perched on the edge of the enigmatic Abyss—a vast, vertical chasm teeming with ancient technology, bizarre creatures, and untold secrets. Riko aspires to emulate her mother, Lyza, a renowned White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished into the depths of the Abyss.

During her journey, Riko encounters Reg, a mysterious half-robot boy with amnesia. Together, they embark on a perilous descent into the Abyss, aware that they might never make it back to the surface. The manga's popularity led to its adaptation into an anime in 2017, followed by a sequel film, "Dawn of the Deep Soul," released in Japan in 2020. Additionally, in 2022, Chime Corporation released a console and PC RPG titled "Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness."
