2025 Alienware Aurora 16, 16X Laptops Now Available

Author: David May 22,2025

Alienware has just unveiled its new 2025 lineup of gaming laptops under the "Alienware Aurora" banner. The first models available for purchase at Dell are the 16" versions. The Alienware Aurora 16, starting at $1,949.99, is the more budget-friendly option, equipped with an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 i9-270H CPU and a GeForce RTX 4050 GPU with an 85W TGP. On the other hand, the Alienware Aurora 16X, priced at $2,299.99, is the premium choice, featuring an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU and a GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with a 115W TGP. Both models are set to ship in mid-June. Additionally, there's an option to upgrade to the RTX 5060 graphics, though these are currently on pre-order with no specific shipping date, as the RTX 5060 has yet to be released.

Unlike other Alienware laptops, such as the recently released Area-51, the new Alienware Aurora series adopts a more conventional and sleek design. These laptops feature a thin, understated profile and minimal RGB lighting, with the Aurora 16 sporting only white keyboard illumination reminiscent of Apple MacBooks. Yet, beneath their unassuming exteriors, they house robust gaming components, including a dual-fan and copper heatpipe cooling system known as the Cryo Chamber. The Aurora 16 is slightly thinner and lighter, thanks to its efficient components like the low voltage Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU and an RTX 5070 GPU with an 85W TGP. The Aurora 16X, while slightly thicker and heavier, accommodates a more powerful Intel Core Ultra 9 HX series processor and an RTX 5070 GPU with a maximum 115W TGP.

These laptops are significantly more affordable than the Alienware Area-51, starting at over $3,000, and are much more portable, weighing up to 1.6 pounds less and being up to 30% thinner. Given the expected upward trend in Nvidia GPU prices, as reported by Tom's Hardware, don't expect these prices to drop soon.
