Application Description

Japanese Mahjong is a captivating game that follows a distinct set of rules, offering a unique twist on the classic Mahjong experience. To engage with the game, players utilize a slider located beneath the screen to select tiles. Once a tile is chosen, a tap on the slider discards it, propelling the game forward.

The objective of Japanese Mahjong is to complete a winning hand, which consists of four Melds and one Pair. An example of such a hand might look like this: \[1, 2, 3\]\[6, 6, 6\]\[6, 7, 8\]\[N, N, N\]\[4, 4\]. However, certain combinations involving Chi, Pon, and Open Kan may not be approved as valid hands. Players should be cautious when forming sequences or sets involving the numbers 1 and 9 using Chi and Pon.

Under Japanese Mahjong rules, players are required to have at least one Yaku, or scoring element, to declare a win. A Yaku can be achieved by paying 1,000 points to declare Reach, which signifies a ready hand. However, players cannot declare Reach if they have performed Chi, Pon, or Open Kan during the game. A closed hand, one that hasn't used any of these actions, typically yields higher points upon winning.

Understanding the concept of a Lost Hand is crucial. This occurs when a player's hand is Waiting for a specific tile to win, but cannot claim victory from another player's discard because they have already discarded the winning tile themselves. Even with a Lost Hand, players can still win by drawing the needed tile themselves (self-draw). The key strategy here is to avoid being Ron'd (winning off another player's discard) with a tile you've discarded yourself.

To maximize your chances of winning, it's essential to carefully analyze the discards of other players and strategically reason out your hand to secure a victory.
