The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) proudly presents the KCNK Little Bee Game, a fun and educational spelling app designed for children aged 4 to 9. Sponsored by Grace Kennedy Money Services (GKMS) and Western Union (WU), this app offers an engaging way for young learners to master spelling through three distinct modes: Learning Mode 1, Learning Mode 2, and Competition Mode.
In Learning Mode 1, children can learn to spell words by tapping each letter from left to right. The app audibly pronounces each letter, helping kids to learn by repetition. If a mistake is made, they can easily correct it by tapping on the error. To move to the next word, students must spell the current word correctly, and to complete a level, all words must be spelled right. They can retry any level at any time, but must finish earlier levels before advancing.
Learning Mode 2 challenges students with jumbled letters. They must rearrange the letters to spell the word correctly. Similar to the first mode, they can correct mistakes and listen to the word again by tapping the little bee icon. Progressing through levels requires correct spelling of all words within a level.
Competition Mode adds an exciting twist by including extra letters among the jumbled ones. Students are timed as they spell 10 random words from each level's pool. The goal is to complete levels as quickly as possible, with times recorded on a leaderboard.
The app can be played offline and features 10 levels in each mode, with words increasing in difficulty. Each level contains at least 15 words. Students can personalize their experience by entering their name, age, parish, and school in the settings. They can also reset the game from the settings page.
For the best experience, students should wait for a letter to finish being called before selecting the next one. Parents and students can capture and share their leaderboard results with teachers.
