Hazelight's beloved co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has reached a remarkable milestone by selling nearly four million copies. Publisher EA highlighted this achievement in its recent financial report, labeling the game as a "hugely successful launch" and crediting it as a key factor in their strong performance at the close of the 2025 financial year.
In a jubilant social media post, Hazelight celebrated the news, stating, "4 MILLION SOLD!!!! So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it's amazing... Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made..."
*Split Fiction* immerses players in the diverse worlds crafted by two fiction writers in an innovative co-op adventure that supports two players even if only one owns the game. Launched in March, it quickly became another hit for Hazelight and designer Josef Fares, selling over two million copies in its first week. It's also slated to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, as Hazelight continues development on its next project.Additionally, a movie adaptation of Split Fiction is in the works, produced by Story Kitchen, known for their work on the Sonic films. The project is assembling a team of writers, a director, and has confirmed that actress Sydney Sweeney will be part of the cast.
IGN's review praised Split Fiction as "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," describing it as "a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they’re introduced. This keeps it fabulously fresh for its full, 14-hour duration."
